The Texas Auto Writers Association has named the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica the 2016 ‘Family Car of the Year’, Fiat Chrysler has announced.
A total of 58 journalists attended the recent Texas Roundup, a two event that offered media members the opportunity to drive the latest 2016 model year vehicles from a variety of manufacturers. FCA walked away with the most awards of any manufacturer, however it was the ‘Family Car of the Year’ award that really stood out to TAWA.
“FCA US brought an all-star lineup with several cars impressing our journalists. However, the design, functionality and practicality of the new Chrysler Pacifica really stood out from all the Family Car contenders,” said Nic Phillips, President of TAWA. “It’s truly entertaining to drive with friends and family, offers numerous safety options, and leads the segment in styling, all the while playing to traditional strengths of minivans.”
In addition to the Pacifica, the Dodge Charger R/T Scat Pack also won the ‘Full-size Sedan of Texas’ award, while the 2016 Charger SRT Hellcat won Performance Sedan of Texas) and the 2016 Viper GTC Supercar of Texas. The Pacifica also claimed the ‘Best New Interior’ award while Uconnect Theater won Best New Feature.
The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica first arrived at FCA dealers in the U.S. last week, with the new Pacifica Hybrid following it into showrooms later this year.
