When you see the words ‘Jeep’ and ‘Reneagde’ together in succession, your mind probably wanders to the current subcompact Jeep Renegade crossover. The little Renegade isn’t the first Jeep vehicle to wear the nameplate, however, with the automaker first applying it to a special edition Wrangler YJ in 1990.
The Wrangler Renegade was an equipment package that added a widebody kit, model exclusive alloy wheels, Renegade badging and other small amenities to the standard YJ. It was available as a factory option, however the kit was installed by American Specialty Cars in Detroit before being delivered to dealers as opposed to it being installed at the factory.
One of these rare Wrangler Renegades recently popped up for sale on Craigslist in Long Island for a rather steep sum of $10,900. The example in question is undeniably clean, but the seller doesn’t list the mileage in the ad, so there’s no telling if it’s really worth the price tag. It’s equipped with the optional hardtop roof and A/C unit and also the column shifter – a rare option on the Renegade.
These vehicles don’t pop up for sale too often, so the seller shouldn’t have too much trouble finding a buyer, but we’d be genuinely surprised if he received what he was asking. Check out the listing at this link and let us know if you think this Renegade is worth the list price in the comments.
