Ram Truck has announced a multitier sponsorship of the Kentucky Derby and Churchill Downs, effectively becoming the ‘Official Truck’ of the derby and the event’s exclusive automotive partner.
The sponsorship will see Ram branded signage on the Churchill Downs property, branding on gate crew staff uniforms and on certain jockeys, television ads running on the NBC telecast and behind-the-scenes custom videos posted on Ram’s social channels. Before the race, two Ram ProMaster vans will transport the traditional “Garland of Roses,” to be worn by the winning horse, and the winning jockey’s bouquet to the track from the florist.
“Ram trucks are the perfect match for horse owners, trainers and handlers, and being associated with America’s premiere racing events is a great way to illustrate our support for these customers,” said Ram brand boss Mike Manley.
In addition to the various signage, commercial time and other branding opportunities, Ram will also have on-site displays at Churchill Downs so attendees can familiarize themselves with Ram’s lineup. Ram says they will bring along a Ram 1500 Crew Cab Rebel, a Ram 1500 Limited Crew Cab and a 3500 Limited Dually.
Ram has already gotten the jump on its Kentucky derby coverage, uploading a behind-the-scenes video to YouTube “that at provides race fans with the opportunity to experience what it is like to ride around the Churchill Downs track,” the automaker says.
