Three Mopars made semifinal appearances in this past weekend’s 29th annual National Hot Rod Association Spring Nationals at Royal Purple Raceway near Houston Texas. Additionally, one Mopar claimed a Stock Eliminator title win, while another enjoyed a runner-up finish in Super Stock.
Don Schumacher Racing drivers Jack Beckman and Tommy Johnson Jr. raced their Dodge Charger R/T Funny cars through eliminations to make it to the semifinals. In the semis, Beckman was lined up against Tim Wilkerson, however he was unable to pull out the win.
Wilkerson eventually lost in the finals to Courtney Force, but not before beating out Matt Hagan in the Pennzoil Charger R/T. Johnson, meanwhile, beat John Force and Alexis DeJoria on his way to a semi final appearance against Force. Force moved into the points lead with the win.
In Pro Stock, Allen Johnson drove to his second semifinal appearance of the season after beating out Shane Gray and over Drew Skillman. He was then lined up against Greg Anderson in the semifinals, however he fell just short of the mark and lost out before Anderson went on to lose in the finals against Jason Line.
In Pro Stock, Erica Enders was looking for a third consecutive title in her Mopar Performance Dodge Dart but lost out to Chris McGaha. She posted a 0.035 second reaction time and 6.659/207.18 pass, which wasn’t enough to match McGaha’s 0.018 second reaction time and 6.668/206.26 pass.
