You might be surprised to learn this, but the Dodge Challenger Hellcat isn’t the first American-made piece of machinery to bear the feline-inspired name. During WWII, Grumman developed the supercharged and turbocharged XF6F Hellcat prototype plane, which was critical to the United States’ success during its WWII Pacific campaign.
Dream Giveaway is currently hosting a contest in which it will giveaway not only a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T, but an 805 horsepower 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat ‘X’ inspired by the XF6F Hellcat. The winner will also receive $40,000 in cash, which will be required to pay taxes on the valuable Mopar metal.
The Hellcat X is powered by the same 6.2-liter supercharged V8 as the standard Hellcat, however the builders of the car bolted two turbochargers to the HEMI as a nod to the compound-charged XF6F Hellcat. They’ve also added a race-inspired front splitter and rear wing and some unique ‘Hellcat X’ badging.
That’s cool and all, but if we were to sign up for this giveaway, it’d be the 1970 Challenger R.T 440 that we’d be most excited about receiving. Click here to read more about the giveaway.
