The 1990 Formula 1 season played host the one of the most exciting rivalries in the sport’s history – and you now have the opportunity to drive one of the iconic cars from that year thanks to the new Forza Motorpsort 6 ‘Hot Wheels’ DLC car pack.
In the 1990 Japanese Grand Prix, the 15th of 16 races on the calendar, Ferrari’s Alain Prost found himself starting second behind pole sitter Ayrton Senna. The McLaren driver was leading Prost in the championship and if Prost failed to finish one of the last two races, he would be champion.
Senna may had raced Prost and his 641 clean when the green flag came out had he not been convinced he was the victim of a conspiracy. The Brazillian was upset that the pole position at Suzuka that year was located on the far left side of the track and off the racing line. He attempted to have it switched but was refused, so he vowed to go for any open gap available in Turn 1.
As Prost and Senna raced down the straight, Senna dived down the inside of Prost and clipped him, sending both cars spinning off track. This forced Prost to retire from the race and handed the championship to Senna – a result that produced mixed reactions from F1 fans and critics.
So if you want to know what it’s like to climb behind the wheel of F1 history, head on over to the Xbox marketplace and download the Ferrari 641. Just be sure watch out for bothered McLaren drivers when racing.
