The Dodge Viper ‘TA’ package was introduced to help tame the fifth-generation Dodge Viper on the track, adding sticky Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires, carbon-fiber splitters, stiffer suspension and a carbon-fiber engine brace, among other enhancements.
The Viper team succeeded in improving lap times with the TA package, sending it around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in 1:33.62 and setting the production car lap record. The Viper owner in the video above, however, isn’t using his car to set hot laps, but rather record-breaking half-mile passes.
With a set of turbochargers strapped to his blue Viper TA’s 8.4-liter V10 engine, the owner of the car set the fastest half-mile pass for a fifth-generation Viper and broke the 200 mph mark. We reckon he’d be even quicker if he took the TA’s optional rear wing off, but perhaps it helps this big power machine put all 1500 horses to the pavement.
