Scuderia Ferrari topped the timesheets in FP2 ahead of the 2016 Chinese GP, with Kimi Raikkonen posting a lap of 1:36.896 on the supersoft tire compound. Sebastian Vettel was second fastest with a time of 1:37.005, making for a Ferrari sweep of the front row in the practice session.
In behind the two Ferraris were the Mercedes of Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton, respectively. Rosberg posted a 1:37.133, clearing Hamilton’s 1:37.329 lap by a good amount. Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo rounded out the top five with a lap of 1:38.143, clearing Toro Rosso’s Max Verstappen by over a second.
Ferrari described its performance Friday as a “programme completed,” and is hoping for a similarly strong showing in Saturday’s FP3 practice session. The 2016 Chiense Grand Prix is scheduled for Sunday at 2:00 p.m. local time.
