The Fiat 500 Abarth’s 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder bellows a surprisingly loud and imposing song from its twin exhaust pipes, and we’re happy to report that same throaty exhaust note is present in the new Abarth 124 Spider sportscar.
The Abarth 124 Spider is powered by the same 1.4-liter turbocharged engine as the 500 Abarth. In the European-spec Abarth 124 the motor produces 170 horsepower, however Abarth has stripped it of 10 horsepower for the North American version, with output coming in at 160 horsepower.
YouTube’s NM225 recently saw an early-production Abarth 124 Spider at a Passione Ferrari event and decided to film it as Fiat loaded the car back onto the hauler. He ended up getting some footage of the yet-to-be-released car’s exhaust note, so check it out above ahead of the Abarth 124 Spider’s arrival in showrooms later this year.
