In January Hennessey Performance Engineering showed us a video of them dyno testing their 850 horsepower ‘HPE850’ upgrade kit for the Dodge Challenger Hellcat. Those HPE850 Hellcats are now on their way to customers, with HPE debuting an example equipped with its custom wheel set.
Boosting the output of the Challenger Hellcat’s 6.2-liter 707 horsepower supercharged V8 engine didn’t take much effort from HPE. The Texas-based tuning outfit installed a new ECU, high flow air filter, lower pulley upgrade and port matched throttle body, successfully boosting power to 850 horsepower at the fly wheel and fulfilling the company’s mantra of “making fast cars faster.”
HPE says this Billet Crystal Metallic Challenger Hellcat is “being delivered to one of our customers right now and they are sure to be pleased.” We’d have to agree the buyer is destined for happiness, but can someone remind him to protect his wheels at night?
