Erik Comas raced in Formula 1 from 1991 to 1994, participating in 59 Grands Prix with Ligier and Larrousse. He is perhaps best known for having his life saved by the late Ayrton Senna, however he also enjoyed an illustrious sportscar racing career in Japan and raced at Le Mans.
Comas had previously retired from competitive racing, however this year he will compete in the FIA European Historic Rally Championship with Zenith El Primero in their Lancia Stratos. He recently competed a shakedown test with the team ahead of the season’s start, and Comas and the Stratos are looking good.
Watch as Comas familiarizes himself with the Stratos in the video above. We have to say, we’re quite surprised by how fast the 70s era rally car looks, and we could listen to its 2.4-liter Dino V6 sing all day. The Stratos will go up against all the greats from rallying history in the 2016 European Historic Rally Championship, including the Porsche 911 and Lancia Delta.
