Those Fiat Chrysler customers who own 2013 to 2015 model year Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep and Ram vehicles may now update their vehicle’s Uconnect 8.4 infotainment system to accommodate the use of Siri Eyes Free, the automaker has announced.
The complimentary software update is available for download at this link. FCA has created a step-by-step instructional video on how to install the update themselves, which we’ve embedded below, or they may schedule a service appointment to have it done at their preferred dealership.
“With the addition of the Siri Eyes Free feature for later model-year vehicles, more customers will have an opportunity to integrate their iPhones with Uconnect while keeping their hands on the wheel and their eyes on road,” s Tricia Hecker, Global Head of Connected Services for FCA, said in a prepared statement. “By adding Siri Eyes Free capability, customers will be able to use their voice to dictate and send messages, select specific songs, create reminder notifications and set calendar entries.”
Siri Eyes Free can be activated via a button on the steering wheel and allows the driver to use voice commands to send text messages, play music, place phone calls, set reminders, access turn-by-turn directions and more. Siri is available on the Apple iPhone 4S and later models.
