Last summer Mopar unveiled the new Dodge Challenger Drag Pak, a factory-built drag racing car designed to compete in the NHRA’s Sportsman class. Those new Drag Pak Challengers are now in customer hands, with the first of them recently making its first-ever NHRA pass at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida.
The Challenger Drag Pak is available with either a supercharged 354 HEMI engine or a naturally aspirated 426 HEMI. Both powerplants are mated to a race-prepped automatic transmission and the interior features necessary racing appointments such as a full roll cage lightweight racing seats, a safety net and five-point harnesses.
The Challenger Drag Pak that showed up at the Gatornationals was a supercharged 354 example, indicated by the subtle ‘354’ graphics on the side of the car. Check out the first pass in the video below and keep an eye out for the Challenger Drag Pak throughout the rest of the NHRA Sportsman season.
