Jeep teased its concepts for the 50th annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari last week. Two of its Moab concepts were teased, however the public only seemed to care about one: the Jeep Trailcat.
Today the Trailcat made its official debut and just as we suspected, it is indeed a Jeep Wrangler with the 707 horsepower 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat HEMI V8 stuffed under its hood. If that wasn’t enough to make this one of the coolest concept vehicles in recent memory, the Hellcat engine is mated to a good old six-speed manual transmission.
Jeep didn’t just stick a Hellcat engine under the hood of a Wrangler and call it a day when building the Trailcat. They stretched the wheelbase two inches, chopped two inches off the windshield and upgraded the suspension with Dana 60 axles and Fox shocks. There’s also a power dome vented hood, LED headlamps, rock rails, 17-inch beadlock wheels and 39.5-inch BF-Goodrich Krawler T/A KX tires.
The treatment continues in the Trailcat’s interior with carbon fiber sport bucket seats sourced from the Dodge Viper and covered in Katzkin leather, a Hellcat-branded shift knob and a full roll cage.
