There have been many performance pickup trucks throughout the years, but very few are as famous as the Dodge Ram SRT10, or the ‘Viper truck’. The Ram SRT10 married the 8.3-liter V10 engine from the second-generation Viper with Ram’s light-duty truck body, creating the fastest and most outrageous pickup the world had ever seen.
In 2005, following the success of the single-cab Ram SRT10, the automaker introduced the Ram SRT10 Quad Cab, which gave customers the performance of the standard Ram SRT10 with the usability of a standard work truck. It was also available with a heavy-duty automatic transmission more appropriate for towing than the six-speed manual in the single-cab.
The Smoking Tire’s Matt Farah recently took a trip down to Texas where he drove a Ram SRT10 Quad Cab. Considering Texas loves trucks and the Ram SRT10 is one of the most over-the-top pickups of all time, it’s hard to think of a more Texas vehicle than the good old Viper truck.
