The 2016 Dodge Viper ACR has already solidified itself as the current king of the North American performance cars. Thanks to its massive amounts of downforce, sticky Kumho tires and 640 horsepower 8.4-liter V10 engine, it’s lap times are unmatched by almost any other car on sale and it didn’t have to sacrifice its raw, visceral driving experience to do it.
Lap times aren’t everything, however, which is why Top Gear Magazine recently conducted a three-way triple test consisting the 2016 Viper ACR, C7 Corvette Z06 and Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R. These are three cars that offer three differing levels of performance and each goes about doing it in a very different way, so we were infinitely curious to read what a British publication like Top Gear thought of these three American brutes.
We won’t ruin the test for you, so pop on over to TopGear.com to read the full result. We will say that even though Top Gear calls the GT350R the ‘It Car of the Moment’, we’d have to disagree and say that’s the Viper. It may be old news, but with production ending soon and the arrival of another generation of V10 Viper nigh impossible, the 2016 Viper ACR will be the car you wished you had ordered when its value has shot up dramaticallysometime down the road.
