Fiat Chrysler announced today production of the Maserati Levante SUV has begun at its Mirafiori plant in Turin, Italy. The SUV, which was previewed by FCA last week, will debut in its entirety tomorrow at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, Maserati says.
The Levante is the first SUV from Maserati in its more than century-long history. The automaker describes it as being “immediately identifiable with the Maserati brand and its distinctive Italian character,” with “outstanding on-road performance
characteristic of Maserati combined with unparalleled handling.”
Maserati also said the Levante will feature air-ride suspension as standard on all models along with intelligent Q4 all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Both gasoline and diesel engine options will be on offer, liekly the 3.0-liter V6 units featured in the Maserati Ghibli mid-size sedan.
