The last Dodge Neons rolled off the assembly line way back in 2006, replaced by the Dodge Caliber and more recently the Dodge Dart. The nameplate may be set to make a return, however, but it won’t be coming to America.
Indian Autos Blog has dug up a leaked image of a Fiat Tipo sedan rebadged as a Dodge with the words ‘Nuevo Dodge Neon’ printed above. The photo appears to be from an internal Chrysler product presentation of some sort and signals the arrival of the car in Mexico later this year.
The Tipo sedan, first unveiled as the Aegea last year, is Fiat’s new C-Segment family car. It will soon be sold throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East and will also spawn hatchback and station wagon variants. The Neon is expected to be mechanically identical to the Tipo and will offer the same engine lineup, consisting of a 1.3-liter and 1.6-liter Multijet diesel and 1.6-liter and 1.4-liter ‘Fire’ gasoline engines.
