The Ram 1500 Rebel has been selected as Four Wheeler’s Pickup Truck of the Year in the 27th edition of the awards. The Pickup Truck of the Year award is up for grabs for all new or significantly revised pickup trucks for the upcoming model year. This year’s entrants were the: Ram 1500 Rebel,Chevy Colorado Z71, Nissan Titan and Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road.
Four Wheeler says its staff evaluate each Truck of the Year entrant in the following areas of performance: 0-60-mph and quarter-mile acceleration, 60-0-mph braking distance, interior appointments and amenities, quality of construction and of course the ability to perform in rigorous off-road environments.
The Ram 1500 Rebel was commended for the strong acceleration performance made possible by the 5.7-liter HEMI V8, ample off-road performance, good fuel economy, comfortable interior and overall composure both on- and off-road.
“If there’s one word to describe the Ram 1500 Rebel, it’s balanced,” Four Wheel editor Christian Hazel said. “It has admirable towing and payload capacity, good on-road handling, brisk acceleration and strong braking, a comfortable interior with convenient storage and amenities, a smooth ride, and huge off-road capability in all terrains. No matter what Four Wheeler threw at the Ram 1500 Rebel, it just flat-out worked with no drama, no excuses, and no compromises.”
