Fiat Chrysler has debuted the fourth-generation of its Uconnect in-car infotainment system, which introduces Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities to Uconnect, along with a new capacitive touchscreen and enhanced overall performance.
The addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allow owners of phones with either operating systems to seamlessly integrate their device to their cars entertainment and media system. CarPlay benefits from Siri voice control and Apple apps, while Android makes the best of Google’s various apps from Maps to Play Music.
Uconnect 4.0 also benefits from a faster startup time, enhanced processing power, improved touchscreen responsiveness, a brighter, more vivid projection with better resolution and the new Uconnect 8.4 NAV system.
Fiat Chrysler is also hosting the ‘ultimate in-vehicle digital experience’ at CES 2016, exhibiting what it believes the future of automotive technology holds. This includes predictive technology that monitors a driver’s daily habits, vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication, a ‘workload manager’ that helps to limit distractions and a privacy mode the transfers a driver’s phone data from the NAV screen to the instrument cluster.
