Brembo’s partnership with Ferrari began in 1975, when Ferrari company founder Enzo Ferrari approached the Bergamo based company and asked it to engineer brakes appropriate for his Formula 1 cars. Now, 40 years later, the partnership is still going strong.
Today Brembo is perhaps best known for its carbon-ceramic brake discs. As Brembo North America CEO Dan Sandberg explained to Bloomberg in a recent interview, Brembo is currently the only company capable of mass producing carbon-ceramic discs, making it the go-to brand for high performance automakers like Ferrari and Corvette.
At this year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Brembo is present with a head-turning display that features a yellow Ferrari 488. It’s one of many new production cars Brembo brakes are featured on, and as Sandberg said, it’s far from the last with the brake supplier’s business outlook currently looking very strong.
