We’ve seen the high-performance Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Verde a number of times, both in-person at auto shows and in promotional videos for Alfa, however the non-QV version of the Giulia is nowhere to be found. It seems as though Alfa is finally getting around to bringing the base Giulia to market, though, with a prototype version of the car being spied undergoing tests in Amsterdam.
This is the first recorded sighting of a non-QV Giulia, though unfortunately the video quality is very poor. We can’t make out much, however just as we expected, the base model appears identical to the QV variant but lacks for aggressive front fascia and rear diffuser, small rear lip wing and quad exhaust tips. We’re also expecting the non-QV Giulia to wear different wheels and brakes and to have a standard non-vented hood.
Last year a purported leaked Alfa Romeo document claimed to reveal the standard Giulia’s engine lineup. The range of rumored engines included a 2.0-liter turbocharged four available in 200, 250 and 280 horsepower flavors and a 2.2-liter diesel four available with 150 or 180 horsepower. Both manual and automatic transmissions will be offered along with rear- and all-wheel drive.
Check out the spy video above before the base Giulia debuts sometime this year – possibly as early as the Geneva Motor Show in March.
