Dodge offers its Hellcat engine under the hood of both the Challenger and Charger in order to appease all tastes, but what if you want the 707 horsepower 6.2-liter supercharged V8 under the hood of an SUV? Without the aftermarket you’d be out of luck, because even though Dodge doesn’t offer such a product from the factory, off-road customization shop Hauk Designs does.
The Hauk Hellcat, which was first shown at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas earlier this year, starts life as 2015 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Hauk then yanks out the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and replaces it with the 6.2-liter Hellcat motor, which is linked up to the eight-speed automatic transmission also found in the Hellcat. In order to accommodate the power, Hauk also installs beefier driveshafts, bigger Teraflex brakes, Bilstein shocks, 4:10 gears with locking differentials and a 4:1 low-range transfer case.
Hauk doesn’t list prices for the Hellcat, but that’s likely due to the fact that price will vary widely depending on what else you want done to the Jeep. If you’re interested, you can drop them a line and reserve a Hauk Hellcat for yourself at this link. That, or you could wait until the rumored ‘TrackHawk’ Jeep Grand Cherokee arrives to receive a Hellcat-powered Jeep right from the factory.
