The Fiat 126 was introduced in 1976 at the Turin Motor Show in Italy, however it was produced in Poland under the Polski Fiat banner until 2000. As you can imagine this makes the car fairly abundant in Poland compared to other countries, which causes the small rear-engine hatch to pop up rather frequently at the country’s amateur rallies.
Recently, a number of Fiat 126s showed up at the KJS Chybie 2015 rally in Poland. YouTube user Petrorally was on hand to film the spectacle and brought us a wonderful video, embedded above, showing the old Fiats getting all sorts of sideways to the delight of the rally-loving crowd. The drivers manage to keep everything under control, but even they crashed, the notoriously affordable126 probably wouldn’t cost all that much to replace.
So sit back and watch as some Polish rally enthusiasts show the world just what a two-cylinder rear-engine Fiat designed in the ‘70s can do.
