When Dodge first announced its Charger and Challenger Hellcat models would produce 707 horsepower, one of our first thoughts was “how easy would it be to grow that number to 850 horsepower or more?”. We figured it would be pretty simple considering most engines have a little meat on the bone for tuning, and from what we see in the video above, it seems as though we were right.
The video, which comes to us via YouTube’s BigKleib34, is of a 900 horsepower Charger Hellcat running 9-second passes consistently. All it took to boost the Hellcat’s output to around 900 horsepower, according to the video description, was a new upper and lower pulley for the supercharger, catless mid-pipe exhaust and a Diablo sport tune. There’s also a new driveshaft and rear gears for durability purposes.
With drag slicks out back, this Hellcat has no problem hooking up before rocketing down the quarter-mile. The driver even manages to get it within .01 seconds of the overall Hellcat quarter-mile record, easily making it the fastest Hellcat Charger in the world.
