Back in May, Fiat debuted the Aegea Project, a concept sedan that is to become the Tipo when it goes into production next year. The four-door Tipo will be sold internationally, however a hatchback Tipo engineered specifically for the United Kingdom will also arrive and has recently been spied by AutoExpress photographers.
The Tipo hatchback, which will compete with segment mainstays such as the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus, will retain much of the sedan’s good looks. The same front-end styling is present and AE maintains the interior should remain near-identical as well.
Customers will have both gasoline and diesel engine options in the Tipo hatch, with 1.4-liter and 1.6-liter gasoline engines on offer as well as 1.3-liter and 1.6-liter diesels. Both automatic and manual transmissions options will also be on offer.
The Tipo hatch is expected to go on sale in the uK in September of 2016 with prices starting at around £15,000. In the meantime, check out the spy photos over on AE.
