The Ferrari 275 GTB is often regarded as one of the best road-going Ferraris of all time. Road & Track called it “the most satisfying sports car in the world,” when they drove it, and they’re far from the only people that have laid praise upon the front-engine V12 berlinietta.
Another person who’s handed the 275 GTB the recognition it deserves is former racing driver Skip Barber. The 79-year old is known across America for his Skip Barber Racing Schools, however before he started teaching students how to drive cars fast, he was doing it himself in the SCCA National Runoffs and later Formula 1.
Thanks to his racing schools, Barber has had the opportunity to drive many fast, expensive cars throughout his life. His favorite, though, is the Ferrari 275 GTB, which he says is very “hands on,” and is a car that you don’t just ride in but drive. In other words, today’s sportscars deliver a driving experience that is a far cry from visceral event a 275 GTB brings.
