Fiat is said to be working on a new city car that will slot below the 500 and Panda in both size and price, according to Italian motoring blog Passion Auto Italiane.
The new small car will revive the Topolino name Fiat first gave to a variation of the 500 built between 1936 and 1955. The new Topolino won’t be a 500 variation, though, but rather an all-new car with a chassis 5-inches shorter than that of the two-door hatch. It’s said to be offered in both two- and four-door variations and will be powered exclusively by Fiat’s two-cylinder TwinAir engine.
As LeftLaneNews points out, it’s wise to be a little skeptical of this report as it’s simply not clear where Passion Auto Italiane got their info from. It’s not a far fetched idea, seeing as multiple other automakers sell entry-level cars in this class, such as the Peugeot 108 and Volkswagen Up!
If the Topolino rumors are indeed true, we’re expecting it to show up at either the 2016 Paris Motor Show or 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
