Fiat Chrysler is no stranger to movie-themed ads, having recently partnered with The Hunger Games for a series of ads centered on the movie. Now the automaker has partnered with Lucasfilm to create five ads co-promoting the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie, and we have a feeling both car and Star Wars enthusiasts alike will get a kick out of them.
The new Star Wars ad campaign will roll out in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and many other European, Middle Easter and African countries. The TV ads will be joined by radio spots and other social media extensions in the U.S. and will be targeted at a number of demographics, airing during premier NFL and college football games among other programs.
“Having our brands be part of the global conversation surrounding one of the most anticipated movies in recent years provides remarkable worldwide exposure for our Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram and FIAT brands,” said Fiat Chrysler CMO Olivier Francois. “Collaborating with Disney and Lucasfilm on ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ once again provides the opportunity to deliver the unexpected – relevant, entertaining and immediately noticed end-of-the-year Tier 2 commercials true to the individuality of each of our brands and featuring the Star Wars music and sound design known around the world.”
The Dodge Star Wars themed ad, which we’ve embedded above, is our personal favorite. It features a black Viper ACR driving down an empty street followed by hundred of white and black Dodge Chargers, Challengers and Durangos as the Imperial March music plays. The Viper represents Vader, obviously, while the white cars are his notoriously loyal Stormtroopers.
