In the 1970s, Doug Stark bought a Plymouth GTX for just $2,500 and held onto it thinking one day the car might become a collector’s item. Doug was right, and the GTX is now both rare and worth a good penny, but more importantly, the car created a bond between him and his sons Joe and Doug Jr.
Drive’s Mike Musto stumbled upon the Stark family for his web show Big Muscle and in the process discovered what car culture is all about: having fun while creating bonds and memories. He also got to drive Doug’s mint 1969 Plymouth GTX, a car which helped him truly discover how an all-original car can feel that much more special than a restoration job.
So watch above as Musto is reminded what true car culture is all about while situated behind the wheel of one of the best-looking Mopar muscle cars of years gone by.
