With the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show just around the corner, various automakers will begin announcing their new-for-2016 products. Today Jeep has previewed the 2016 Wrangler Backcountry ahead of the show; a limited-run model that the automaker says “boasts a winter capability theme.”
The Wrangler Backcountry is mostly an appearance package for the Wrangler Sahara. Setting it apart are Backcountry decals on the front fender and rear quarter panel, a unique off-road front and rear powder coated bumper, 17-inch Rubicon wheels finished in mid-gloss Black and a black fuel fill door. There’s also standard rock rails, available Sahara side steps and an optional body color hard top.
Inside, occupants will be greeted by Piano Black vent rings, door handles and grab handles, a vinyl-wrapped console lid and door armrests with Diesel Gray stitching, black leather seat bolsters with sport mesh inserts, a nine-speaker premium Alpine sound system and all-weather mats.
The big news here is the addition of Xtreme Purple to the Wrangler’s color pallet, however the shade is only available on Wrangler Backcountry models. If the purple is a bit too much for your tastes, the Wrangler Backcountry is also available in Hydro Blue, Black, Bright White and Granite Crystal.
