The Jeep Renegade has already received a few notable accolades in its home market of America, however now the rugged compact crossover is getting praise abroad, too. The Renegade has been named the 2016 Car of the Year in Brazil by Autoesporte magazine, one of the most prestigious Brazillian automotive awards.
The Renegade, which is built locally in Brazil, is the SUV segment sales leader in Brazil and in September and October was also one of the top 10 best selling vehicles in the country. Jeep’s compact crossover also received attention earlier this year after becoming the safest Brazilian-made vehicle for adults and children as judged by the Latin NCAP.
“We are honored to receive this important recognition,” Global Jeep brand boss Mike Manley said in a statement. “The Jeep Renegade is made in Brazil for Brazil. This is the right vehicle, at the right time, to help drive the expansion of the Jeep brand in Brazil and across Latin America.”
