Ferrari recently held its annual Finali Mondiali event, which in addition to being the final event in the automaker’s Ferrari Challenge race series is a showcase of the automaker’s past and current motorsports ventures. That means some of its past Formula 1 cars were on hand to wow the crowds – and boy did they ever.
Both the V10 F2004 and V8 F150 F1 cars were showcased at Finali Mondiali, racing around the Mugello circuit in Italy and letting their ear-piercing engines sing. YouTube’s Marchettino was on hand to film the rare spectacle, and like so many other of his videos, this one’s chock full of Italian motoring passion.
While we enjoy his video, it also makes us a bit sad. Today’s F1 cars with their 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engines can’t hold a candle to the sound emitted by these V10 and V8 powered machines, and hearing them clear their throat reminds us of a time when F1 was much more exciting. Hopefully the 2017 F1 regulation changes will result in cars with more character, but in the mean time, we’ll be replaying the video above and looked at the past through rose-tinted glasses.
