Alfa Romeo is rumored to be gearing up to debut the U.S. spec version of its Giulia compact sedan at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show, however the internet may have partially spoiled the surprise before the automaker could make the big announcement.
A Facebook fan page titled ‘Alfa Romeo Project 952’ posted a document earlier this week that may list the entire engine lineup for the Giulia. If it turns out to be valid, the Giulia will feature a 2.0-liter GME four-cylinder (Global Medium Engine), a 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel engine and the previously announced 2.9-liter turbocharged V6 which will be exclusive to the high performance Quadrifoglio Verde model.
The 2.0-liter engine will be available in 200, 250 and 280 horsepower flavors and will be paired exclusively to an automatic transmission. The 250 and 280 horsepower engines can be paired with all-wheel drive, while the 200 horsepower engine can only be had with rear-wheel drive.
While the diesel engine may not make it stateside, it will be available with 150, 180 and 210 horsepower and can be paired with both manual and automatic transmissions. Only the higher horsepower 210 horsepower diesel can be ordered with all-wheel drive.
Finally, the 2.9-liter V6 will be available in 490 and 500 horsepower specifications. The 490 horsepower engine will available with an automatic or manual transmission, while the 500 horsepower engine can be had with a dual-clutch automatic or manual.
It’s still not clear if this engine lineup is valid, however there’s nothing here that makes us believe it’s false. Either way, we may find out following Alfa Romeo’s press conference at the LA Auto Show.
